Monroe Co. Schools Purchase Seven New Buses

Monroe County schools bought $586,363 worth of buses at the school board's June 11 meeting.

The board approved the purchase of five 72-passenger buses and two 54-passenger special education lift buses, two large and one small Bluebird bus from Yancey and three large and one small Freightliner bus from ThomasBuilt.

Solar panel Installed at Monroe County Middle

In a partnership project between Monroe County Middle School and Central Georgia EMC, new solar panels have been put in place. The Solar Panels will be used as part of the science and technology curriculums for 7th and 8th grade at Banks Stephens campus on Thornton Road.

Panels and installation were donated by Central Georgia EMC through its "GreenPower EMC/SunPower for Schools Project” and were erected at no cost to the school system.
