Robins Federal Credit Union Gives Over $51K to the American Cancer Society

Warner Robins, GA — Robins Federal Credit Union recently held fundraisers in branches across the mid-state in order to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Robins Federal Credit Union branches in Baldwin, Bibb, Houston, Jones, Monroe and Peach Counties created teams, raised funds and participated in their county’s Relay for Life events. Over 100 employees participated in the events in their respective counties, and $51,319.02 was raised for the American Cancer Society.

“We are proud to support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Our staff really enjoys the three month fundraising drive each year. It allows them to work together, and have fun while doing something great in our community.  We value our partnership with the American Cancer Society, and could not be more pleased with the result of this year’s fundraising drives” says John Rhea, President/CEO.

To find the Old Schoolhouse, travel to Main Street of downtown Culloden and look for the yellow Chamber sign saying "Business After Hours".  Follow the arrow down Church Street.  The Old Schoolhouse sits on the corner of Church Street and Lockett Street, next to Culloden Baptist Church.

According to Forsyth Better Hometown's Facebook page, the market opens from noon to 6 p.m., weather permitting.

The market will be located behind Farmers Bank.

Robins Federal Credit Union will host a free community event and contests for the entire Middle Georgia community during National Credit Union Youth Week, April 19-26.

Robins Federal Credit Union kicks off its celebration of youth week on Friday, April 19 at 8:00 p.m. with a free outdoor movie featuring the Disney movie “Brave” in the parking lot of the 803 Watson Blvd. branch in Warner Robins. This free event is for the entire family.

Education will be the topic of the April 3rd Eggs & Issues breakfast, sponsored by Georgia Power. Anthony Pack, Superintendent, Monroe County Board of Education and Mickey Daniell, Energy Efficiency Education Coordinator, Georgia Power Company, are speaking.
 Monroe County's Educational System has been rated in Georgia's Top 20 under Anthony's leadership.  Mickey and his 10 peers have delivered their "Learning Power" program to 115,000 Georgia students in less than two years.  Anthony and Mickey's presentations will be informative, interesting, and entertaining.

We will be meeting Wednesday morning at 7:30 in the Monroe Room at the Ramada Inn.

Metro Macon Gained 500 Jobs in February

The Georgia Department of Labor says  February unemployment declined to nine percent in metro Macon.

According to a release, that's down from February 2012, when unemployment for metro Macon was 10 percent.

From January to February, metro Macon gained 500 jobs and fewer people were laid off.

Most jobs were added in the professional, business, education, health care, trade, transportation, warehousing, leisure and hospitality industries as well as in in local government.

Metro Macon includes Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe and Twiggs counties.
