How to Write for 13WMAZ's Where You Live

Where You Live is WMAZ's hyperlocal feature. This means that we are helping bring you more community-specific news more often.

These community websites are a place for you and your community members to share information.

To join our team and share with folks just like yourself, all you have to do is email us your email address and name whereyoulive@13wmaz.com

From there, we set up an account for you. This account lets you log in to your community site and post photo galleries, concerts, community events, 100th birthday parties, your concerns, latest creative projects, how-to advice and anything else you want people in your area to know.

Once you have an account, here are some examples of how you can stay involved Where You Live:

  • Where You Live is your space for public conversation.  Feel free to comment on others' articles. New ideas can crop up just from simple conversations with others.
  • See something bizarre around town? Take a (cell phone) photo and post it to your community site! Maybe someone else will know the background story.

  • Like" us on Facebook to include your local news, breaking news and weather warnings and watches in your Facebook feed.

Farm to Table Benefit Dinner to Feature Mulberry Street Market Items

 

Health Care Central Georgia Inc. d/b/a Community Health Works (CHW) and The Moonhanger Group will host a Farm to Table Benefit Dinner on Monday, April 8th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at The Armory Ballroom. The dinner will feature an elegant four-course menu prepared with fresh, locally-grown and raised seasonal items harvested from the Mulberry Market.

Community Health Works has partnered with Bibb County 4-H to host a Silent Auction at the benefit dinner. Proceeds from the Silent Auction will directly benefit the Bibb County Cooperative Extensions' youth development program.

Forsythians Invited to ESPLOST Meeting Monday Night

Forsythians are invited to a meeting about ESPLOST Monday evening.

That's scheduled for February 25 at 6 p.m. in Alderman Hall. That's located on the back of the Welcome Center facing West Adams Street.

The special vote early voting starts Monday . The special vote begins March 19.

Robins Federal Credit Union Announces Manager and Employee of the Year

Warner Robins, GA — Each year, Robins Federal Credit Union selects two employees that represent the best of the best in two categories – Manager of the Year and Employee of the Year. Employees are selected by management based on their outstanding work performance and written recommendations from their peers. In addition, Robins Federal management selects a branch of the year based solely on performance.

The winners chosen for 2012 are as follows:

Ashley Minshew, Mortgage Department – Minshew has been chosen as the 2012 Manager of the Year. Under her leadership, the Mortgage Department exceeded in every major measurable level of performance. In addition, Minshew has developed her staff for success.

Monroe County Hospital Board Member Receives Prestigious Georgia Award

 

Aretha Neal, long-time member of the Board of Trustees for Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth, was presented with one of the Georgia Hospital Association’s (GHA) highest honors, the Distinguished Service Award. Neal, who received the award at the association’s annual convention Feb. 13 in Atlanta, was recognized for her nearly three decades of contributions to the well-being of her community and the preservation of the local health care delivery system.

Neal served continuously on the board from 1984 until her retirement on Dec. 31, 2012.

As a long-time board member, Neal has mentored the professional growth of many other members and four different hospital administrators. A number of hospital and health personnel also look to her as a role model and advisor.

The Backlot Players will also be holding auditions for The Sound of Music on Monday & Tuesday, Feb. 11 & 12, at 7:00 p.m at The Rose Theater in Forsyth. Need 7 women, 5 girls, 4 men, 2 boys, and large singing/dancing chorus. Directed by Kelli Gilstrap. Performance dates are April 26-28 and May 2-5.
