Sheriff: Robbery May be Motive in Double Killling
Crime, Families

Monroe County's sheriff says a robbery may be the motive in Monday's double homicide of Russell Jacobs and James Pittman Wood.

Jacobs, 36, and Wood, 40, were found dead in their home on Woods Road, near Juliette, around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

They were reportedly found dead by Woods' father, who also lives there.

A news release from Sheriff John Cary Bittick say they're following several leads and that the double killing may have resulted from a robbery.

The news release did not describe any details.

The victims' bodies are scheduled for autopsies at a GBI crime lab to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information on this case can call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 478-994-7043.
