Neighbors fight against Monroe County garage burglaries | Crime
Some Monroe county homeowners are working to protect their belongings after a string of burglaries over the past month.
According to the sheriff's office, people are reporting stolen lawn equipment and tools from garages and carports.
It's happened on Camden Way, Highway 83 North, Popes Ferry Road and Estes Road, sometimes while people are home.
The sheriff's office is asking people to lock their garages and sheds.
Mitch Stanovich says he's not one of the victims, but that people in the neighborhood still need to take precautions.
"Being aware of your surroundings, keeping things locked, things like that, sure," he says, " You know, having animals, having dogs."
You can report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff's Office at 478-994-7048.
