Holiday Organizing Tip #7 - Think of Others

Holiday Organizing Tip #7 - Think of Others

Think of others over the holiday season. Volunteer at soup kitchen. Buy gifts for a toy drive or angel tree. Send a care package to a soldier oversees (http://soldiersangels.org/).

Holiday Organizing Tip #6 - Pare Down the Decorations

Holiday Organizing Tip #6 - Pare Down the Decorations

When you put out your Christmas decorations, do you have a few lone items that can’t seem to find a home?  Don’t let them just live in a box year after year, get rid of them! Donate them to Goodwill or a local women’s shelter. Share the holiday spirit with others and keep your valuable storage space available for the items you truly love!

Holiday Organizing Tip #3 - Edit the Master Calendar

Holiday Organizing Tip #3 - Edit the Master Calendar

The holidays can be extremely busy times. When making your master family Holiday calendar, consider which events are “Must attends” like your daughter’s band concert, which are “Would be nice to attend” like the town Christmas parade and which are “I would rather have a root canal than attend” like your neighbor’s annual open house. If there are events that you can edit out of your schedule with gentle excuses, you will make the holidays more about spending time with the people you love doing things you love to do.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office will have deputies available Halloween night if you'd like a second set of eyes ensuring your candy is safe.

They'll be at the Monroe County Courthouse on the square from 6-8 p.m. with an x-ray and metal detector machine, according to a release.

Organizing Fall Fling Day 28: Excuses

Fling those excuses. I’m waiting for the right time to reorganize my closet. I can’t do my taxes because I hate doing my taxes. Take the project, break it down into small do-able steps and then schedule those steps on your calendar. Take it one step at a time and get through it! If you need help, ask for it.

Organizing Fall Fling Day 27: DVDs

Gather all of your DVDs into one spot. Fling any that you don’t love or that you really don’t want watch again. If you’ve bought the movies recently, you may be eligible for a digital copy that will allow you to get rid of the disk and case, or at least keep them in an out of the way place like a high closet shelf.  Libraries love to get DVDs to add to their collection or to sell in their used book sales. So fling away!

Organizing Fall Fling Day 24: Your Schedule

Organizing Fall Fling Day 24: Your Schedule

No, don’t throw out your calendar. What I am suggesting is to look at your schedule and figure out 1 or 2 things that you can fling - maybe it’s a committee meeting that you really don’t need to attend or an open house that you’ve been invited to. Take them off your calendar now!

You need to guard your time as the precious resource that it is.
