Countdown to Kickoff: Mary Persons Bulldogs | News
FORSYTH - Friday night, fans will fill Dan Pitts Stadium at Mary Persons for the "Backyard Brawl". Until then, the Bulldogs are hard at work on the practice field.
Mary Persons finished with a record of 10-3 last season. This year, they've had to fill the hole left by 1500-yard-rusher Nick Davis and some spots on the offensive line.
"I think every team has got a little different dynamic to it," said head coach Brian Nelson. "The leadership changes. The kids mature a year, and things change in the weight room. Kids get bigger and stronger and faster, and it's just a whole different dynamic in terms of the leadership and the group you've got to work with."
MP is hoping 16 senior will help them push past Jackson in their opener.
"I try to tell them all the time that we're not worried about last year," explained Nelson. "This is a new team and a new year and this group of people, this group of student athletes has got to prove themselves all over again, and they're going to try to do that and they've been getting better everyday we've been out here."
Jackson and Mary Persons meet up at 7:30 on Friday night.
