Town Halls to Discuss Ga. Power Rate Increase | News
ATLANTA (AP) - Consumer advocates say town halls are scheduled throughout the state as Georgia Power looks to raise rates.
Georgia Watch announced this week that a coalition of consumer and environmental groups will host meetings before the Public Service Commission decides whether to approve rate increases in mid-December.
A meeting at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah is scheduled for Oct. 17. A town hall at the Coca-Cola Space and Science Center is set for Oct. 21.
A third meeting is set for Oct. 29 at the Brenau Downtown Center in Gainesville, and a fourth is set for Oct. 30 at the University of Georgia Chapel in Athens.
Each meeting runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Another public comment period is scheduled Nov. 5 and 6 during an Atlanta hearing.
