Mary Persons Preps for Cairo

On this holiday the Mary Persons nation has a lot to put on their "Thankful" list.

The bulldogs play Cairo in the second round of the playoffs on the road Friday night.  Last year the Bulldogs ended their season in the second round.

Head Coach Brian Nelson had the guys going through drills at 8 on Thanksgiving morning.  In the pre-practice huddle he told them to have the best Thursday practice they've ever carried out.

After warm-ups they went through a light walk through for about an hour.

Nelson says Mary Persons and Cairo stack up pretty evenly and the key to the game will come down to who plays fundamentally, gets on the board early and doesn't turn the ball over.

Nelson says a win would mean the world to a Bulldog program searching for a state title.

"I think it would mean a lot in terms of establishing the tradition that's been built here, I think it would mean a lot to our community and I think it would mean a lot to our former players and it would mean a lot to the players we have on the team now and it would be really exciting for the town of Forsyth," Nelson explained.

The kids will get on the bus Friday morning at 10 a.m. for the three- hour road trip.

The Mary Persons faithful plan to caravan.  They've even obtained two church buses so some students can also make the trip.
