Gold Rush, a Mary Persons High School pep rally tradition, returns to Dan Pitts Stadium this Thursday at 7 p.m. The pep rally kicks off the football season as Mary Persons plays Jackson High School  at home on Friday, August 30.

Thanks to Tammy Rafferzeder for sharing her photo with the "Sand Man", Adam Sandler, who was dining with his family at the Waffle House in Forsyth last week.

Sandler is in Georgia filming the new romantic comedy, "Familymoon". He told Tammy that the Waffle House is one of his family's favorite places to stop. And yes folks, that is a Georgia Bulldogs "DAWGS" shirt he's sportin'!

Join FBC Forsyth in an evening race raising money for the Monroe/Forsyth Habitat for Humanity. The course will carry each runner by the Habitat Village which has several homes already constructed and occupied and hopefully, three more added in the very near future.

Harold Maddox always thought he could create beautiful paintings, but for much of his life the duties of a busy career did not leave him time to develop his artistic talents.

He did not forget the fun he had as a 1st and 2nd grader who came in early from recess to make drawings on the chalk board that delighted his teacher and fellow students, however, or the pleasure he found in mixing paint and matching colors painting houses and working in interior decorating early in life.

Metro Macon Gained 500 Jobs in February

Metro Macon Gained 500 Jobs in February

The Georgia Department of Labor says  February unemployment declined to nine percent in metro Macon.

According to a release, that's down from February 2012, when unemployment for metro Macon was 10 percent.

From January to February, metro Macon gained 500 jobs and fewer people were laid off.

Most jobs were added in the professional, business, education, health care, trade, transportation, warehousing, leisure and hospitality industries as well as in in local government.

Metro Macon includes Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe and Twiggs counties.
