Change in Monroe County Middle Schools restroom policy

As Monroe County Middle schools start back on Thursday, a new restroom policy starts as well.

In the welcome back letter sent out by Principal Dr. Yarber, a section marked "Change is Good with Restroom Safety" explains the policy.

It states:

"Students are allowed to use the restroom when the need arises. In addition to multiple whole class restroom breaks throughout the school day, students who need to go to the restroom during class will be monitored by an administrator or staff member, to ensure their well being while in the hallway alone. As a safety precaution, teachers will call the office when a student has an emergency restroom request and your child will be monitored until they return to class."

13WMAZ's Paula Rotondo will have more on this throughout the day.
