Harold Maddox always thought he could create beautiful paintings, but for much of his life the duties of a busy career did not leave him time to develop his artistic talents.

He did not forget the fun he had as a 1st and 2nd grader who came in early from recess to make drawings on the chalk board that delighted his teacher and fellow students, however, or the pleasure he found in mixing paint and matching colors painting houses and working in interior decorating early in life.

Back To School: Have A Home

Back To School: Have A Home

Whether your kids have already started school or if you still have several weeks left to your summer, it’s never too late or too early to begin to set your stellar student up for success this school year.

When you child comes home from school, does she know where her backpack and lunch box live?  These items should have a regular landing zone.  It could be a hook next to the child’s desk in her room or in a cubby by the entry door.  Having a consistent place to put these items will make them easier to find and cause fewer headaches during that mad dash out the door in the morning.

Operation Back to School in Full Force

School is back in session for most students in just a few weeks. To help children in Central Georgia, 13WMAZ is teaming up with Communities in Schools and Walmart to sponsor Operation Back to School.

A number of 13WMAZ staff members will be in several locations to help collect school supplies.

Operation Back to School is a school supply drive that directly benefits kids in need in our local communities. Through Aug. 18, donation barrels or bins will be located at the front of Walmart stores in Macon, Warner Robins, Forsyth, Perry, Milledgeville and Dublin. We need your help to fill them all up!

Simply pick up a few extra school supplies while you shop and drop them in the barrels on your way out. All supplies go to children in the community in which they are collected.

Here is a list of Walmart locations where you can donate:
