Local Church Hosts Living Nativity Scene

FORSYTH, GA.-- "Journey to the Manger," a living nativity scene opens Friday and Saturday, December 9 and 10th. 

That's at Christ United Methodist Church at 417 N Frontage Rd. in Forsyth.

The group will also participate in the Forsyth and Bolingbroke parades on December 1 and December 3, respectively.

Forsythian's Blog Wins Award in Country Living Magazine

Local Forsythian Rachel Garza will be featured in the December issue of Country Living magazine.

Her blog, "Always a Project," won a blue ribbon award for the craft category in Country Living Blue Ribbon Blogger Awards.

The magazine-sponsored award had seven categories.

According to Country Living's website, the competition had over 700 entries in seven different categories.

The issue featuring Garza hits newsstands on November 22. The magazine hosted a national competition for bloggers and Garza won.

Country Living flew Garza to New York City  for a 2-day stay and an awards luncheon at the Hearst Tower.

Poinsettias Available For Sale

Poinsettias are on sale at 4H.

You can order medium or large in red, white or pink.

Medium plants are $12 and large plants are $18.

You'll be able to pick up your poinsettia on November 30 or December 1.

Deadline to order is Wednesday, November 2.

Call the 4H office at 478-994-7014 to order poinsettias.

Trick or Treat on the Square

Trick or Treat on the Square

Little ghouls and goblins will be able to trick or treat on the square on Halloween-- Monday, October 31 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Children up to fifth grade are invited to trick or treat from business to business on the square.

Children are required to be with a supervising adult and in costume.

Trick-or-Treating in Forsyth

Trick-or-Treating in Forsyth happens on October 31st from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

That's according to the City of Forsyth's office.

To ensure the candy is safe, Sheriff's Deputies will be available to scan candy or other goodies through the metal detectors at the Monroe County Courthouse (main entrance). 

 

The courthouse will be open to check Halloween candy on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.
