Help is Only A Sniff Away

Help is Only A Sniff Away

Submitted by Lt. Shane Cook, Public Information Officer, Monroe County Emergency Services

Monroe County Emergency Services recently used a canine tracking team to search for missing youths. A lot of folks have been asking where this team came from. The answer is, right here in Monroe County!

Paramedic Captain Jason Lott,  and his three-year-old German Shephard, "Scooter," have been working as a team for about three years. Scooter was born as the runt of the litter and was not expected to even survive.

Scooter's mother weened him after only three days. It's then that Captain Lott's son, Christopher, decided to bottle feed Scooter and kept him in his room. From that day on, Scooter was raised by Christopher. After a year, Scooter was placed outside in various fences, kennels and enclosures, but managed to escape from every one!
