Interstate Lane Closure Extended

 

An I-75 southbound lane is closed between mile markers 175 and 172  from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 22 through Friday, September 2.

From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 22 through Thursday, August 25, the southbound lane on I-75 between Exit 175.

From 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., starting Monday, August 8 through Thursday, August 11,  I-75 southbound between mile markers 175 (Exit 175, Pate Road) and 172 (Exit 172; Bass Road) is expected to have a single lane closure.*

Monroe County Unemployment Rates in June

Monroe County's unemployment rate comes in at 9.3 percent for the month of June.

That's according to a Georgia Department of Labor news release.

 

The lowest area rate, at 8.0 percent, was recorded in Warner Robins, while the highest, at 12.8 percent, was in the Heart of Georgia-Altamaha area near Dublin. 

Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 9.9 percent in June, up one-tenth of a percentage point from a revised 9.8 percent in May. The state’s jobless rate was 10 percent in June a year ago.

June marked the 47th consecutive month Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is currently 9.2 percent, up from 9.1 percent in May. 

I-75 Lane Closure in Monroe Co.

 

WHEN:    9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday, July 24 through Friday, July 29, weather permitting

WHERE:  I-75 southbound between mile markers 184 and 177 (Exit 177; I-475)

WHAT:   The Georgia DOT has been informed by the contractor of a scheduled double lane closure on I-75 southbound between mile markers 184 - 177. Crews will be placing reflective pavement markings between the lanes.

License Plate Revote Opens Monday

 

ATLANTA (AP) -- The public is again invited to weigh in on Georgia's new license plate design. 

Online voting will reopen at 3 p.m. Monday.

Gov. Nathan Deal had planned to announce the winner of an earlier design contest last Friday, but the state scrapped its plans over public confusion on whether the motto "In God We Trust" would be on the plate.

The eight semi-finalist license plate designs have been posted for the Governor's contest.

You can now vote on your favorite until July 15.
