Photo Gallery | Department of Corrections bus catches fire
A state Department of Corrections bus filled with dozens of prisoners caught fire Thursday morning on Interstate 75.
It happened at about 10:30 between mile markers 191 and 192 about 2 miles north of the weigh station in Forsyth.
Witnesses say they saw heavy smoke from as far as a mile away and there's heavy damage to the bus.
A viewer sent 13WMAZ photos and prisoners can be seen sitting by the side of the highway with officers from several law enforcement agencies keeping watch.
Gwendolyn Hogan with the Georgia Department of Corrections says there were 40 inmates on board who were being transferred.
No one was injured in the blaze and firemen were able to put it out.
There is no word on the cause.
