The following were elected as officers for the Central Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The Central Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America serves 24 counties and over 5,700 youth.  The Scouting method is used to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development and self-reliance through outdoor education.

January Business After Hours to be Held at Athletics Club

The Monroe Forsyth Chamber of Commerce will host its Business After Hours at the Georgia Athletic Club.

On January 27, from 5:30 until 7 p.m., members can network over refreshments.

Members are also encouraged to bring their business cards for networking purposes as well as to drop one the drawing for a prize.

Middle Georgia Unemployment Rate

“The increase in unemployment and job loss in December is continued evidence that Georgia’s job market is fragile,” said Commissioner Mark Butler, in a Department of Labor news release.

“Sustained improvement will come only when employers begin adding jobs and increase hiring. In the coming months, we will work closely with Georgia’s employers, private and public sector economic developers, and the General Assembly to spur existing business expansion and to attract new industry to our state,”  Butler said.

Business: Weather Delays and Closings for January 10, 2011

Medical Center of Central Georgia: physician offices will be closed until noon. North urgent-care center is open regular hours, starting at 8 a.m.; East and Northwest urgent care open at 10 a.m. Central Georgia Diagnostics Northwest and Hardeman and the Wellness Center/Macon Health Club all open at noon.

River Edge Behavioral Health Center outpatient services are closed in Baldwin, Bibb, Jones, Monroe and Twiggs counties.

Robins Federal Credit Union branches in these counties are closed Monday: Baldwin, Bibb, Clarke, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Telfair.


Chamber to Host Eggs and Issues

The Forsyth-Monroe Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly "Eggs and Issues with the Chamber and Joe Brannen" Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. at American Pizza in Forsyth. A hot breakfast will be served.

Joe Brannen is the President and CEO of Georgia Bankers Association (GBA) and represents membership at both state and federal levels, according to the Chamber's website.

The GBA is the trade and professional organization that represents the interests of banks and thrift institutions in the state of Georgia.

Eggs & Issues with the Chamber and Joe Brannen of President/CEO of GBA "Eggs and Issues" is the first Wednesday of every month and is $10 to chamber members and $15 to non-members.

Guests are to RSVP by 4 p.m. on the Monday before the event. "Eggs and Issues" is scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month.

Chamber Welcomes New Business with Ribbon Cutting

Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce will welcome new business and Chamber member Holiday Bottle Shop at the business' grand opening on Dec. 3 at 11:30 a.m.

The community is also invited to a free lunch during the grand opening.

Holiday Bottle Shop is located at 471 B Tift College Drive.
