13 Days of Giving Spotlight: Big Brothers Big Sisters

13 Days of Giving: Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia serves children in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Greene, Hancock, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Laurens, Monroe, Peach, Twiggs, Washington, and Wilkinson Counties.

They have been providing help for community kids since 1953.   Children who have mentors go to school more often, get higher grades, get along with others better, and have higher levels of self esteem.

To help with this project you can volunteer to be a mentor, or donate holiday items for families.

For more information on how you can help with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, call 478-745-3984, e-mail agency@bbbsheartga.org or visit www.bbbsheartga.org

Forsyth Parade to Take Place Thursday Night

The 21st Annual Hometown Holidays Parade will take place Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m., in downtown Forsyth, presented by The Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce along with Subway of Forsyth.

This year’s theme is “A Storybook Season” and floats will be decorated for the holidays with characters from children’s books. All proceeds from the parade will be donated to the Monroe County Library.

The Hometown Holidays Parade Committee asks everyone to be cautious around the construction in downtown Forsyth.

There will be walkways and places for spectators to stand, but the active construction sites will be barricaded. The city has asked everyone not to stand or sit in roped off areas.

Today's 13 Days of Giving Spotlight: Project Giving

From December 1-13 we're highlighting a different local organization on 13WMAZ Eyewitness News.
We'll show how you can volunteer, donate or give back to make the holidays a little brighter.

Today, we're highlighting Project Giving, an all-volunteer, organization building "Bridges of Hope" for families who are suffering from chronic medical illnesses.

To help with Project Giving during the holiday season, join the family Christmas adoption project.
